Evansville Otters News Release
Kalamazoo, MIâ The Kalamazoo Kings scored 10 runs in the seventh inning putting the Kings up double digits at the time, going on to defeat the Evansville Otters 16-7.
Cole Hilt put the Otters up first in the top of the first inning with his seventh homer of the season. However the Kings came back to score three in the bottom half to take a 3-1 lead. Casey DeGroote hit his fifth homer of the year in the third to make it 4-1.
Brad Flanders pulled the Otters closer in the fourth with his first professional RBIs on a double to make it 4-3. However that was as close as the Otters would come as the Kings scored 2 in the sixth and then broke out for 10 in the seventh on eight hits, sending 15 batters to the plate.
Evansville would not go away, however, as the Otters hit a pair of two-run homers in the eighth to close the gap.
In the series finale, the Otters will send Scott Barber to the mound. Kalamazoo will counter with Greg Wiltshire.
