
Greenwell and Biernbaum Blast Washington to Win; Victory is Sixth Straight for Wild Things

Washington, PAâ The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, scored in double figures for the fourth time in six games and captured their sixth-straight victory by downing the Richmond Roosters 13-5 at McBride Stadium Monday night.
L.J. Biernbaum hit his sixth homerun of the season (his third in four games), added a pair of singles and scored four times. Bill Greenwell picked up a season-high six RBI on two homeruns and a double. Jon Cahill added a two-run homer in the ninth.
All nine Wild Things reached base on the night, and the team banged out 15 hits including four consecutive base hits in a five-run seventh inning.
Wild Thing starter Ryan Ewin (4-1) gave up two runs on two hits in six innings of work. Richmond's Kurt Moenter fell to 2-3 on the season after allowing six runs in five innings.
The Wild Things (30-13) became the first team in the Frontier League to reach the 30-win mark this season. The victory coupled with an Evansville loss Tuesday night pushed the Wild Things' lead to 2 ½ games in the East Division.
Washington will try for a three-game series sweep Tuesday night. The game is scheduled to start at 7:35 p.m. The Wild Things will return to Falconi Field for three games against second place Evansville on Wednesday, July 7.
