Crestwood, ILâ Shaff Elkouri hit a home run to lead off the game and the Rockford RiverHawks cruised to a 7-1 win over the Windy City ThunderBolts.
The RiverHawks scored two runs in the first inning including the solo shot by Elkouri and a RBI single by Aaron McEachran.
The RiverHawks added three runs in the third and a single run in both the sixth and seventh inning.
Frank James (5-3) pitched 8 1/3 innings for the RiverHawks. James gave up only five hits in the game. Brett Stephens (3-4) took the loss for Windy City.
The series wraps at 7:05 on Tuesday. The RiverHawks return to Marinelli Field on Wednesday at 7:05 to take on Springfield/Ozark. Wednesday will be the "Dog Days Of Summer" sponsored by Petco and WREX-13. Call (815) 964-BALL for tickets.
