
Otters strike early, often, beat Paints

Juan Downing and Cole Hilt hit back-to-back homers in the third inning, allowing the Evansville Otters to cruise to an 8-3 win over the Chillicothe Paints,
The Otters got on the board in the first inning for the second straight night as Steve Martin singled. Denver Stuckey then walked. Downing sacrificed the pair to second and third. Hilt then bounced a single through the left side for a 1-0 Otters lead.
In the third, Frank Scott got things started for the Otters with a walk. Following a balk and a couple of groundouts, Scott was on third with two outs for Downing. Downing lifted a 3-2 pitch over the left field fence for his second homer of the season, both in Chillicothe, giving Evansville a 3-0 lead. Hilt then took a 0-1 pitch and sent it over the scoreboard in left for his fourth homer to make it 4-0.
The Otters would score two more in the fourth, one in the seventh and one in the eighth to round out the scoring.
The win went to Donny Langdon (2-0) in relief. Matt Blanton (0-3) lost the game for Chillicothe.
Andre Simpson (1-2) goes for the Otters to try to finish off the sweep of Chillicothe. He will be opposed by Perry Cunningham (1-0) for the Paints. The game will start at 6:05 CST and can be heard on 91.5 FM, WUEV.
