Otters slip past 'Hounds

Ryan O'Reilly scored his third shoot out winning goal of the season to lead the Erie Otters to a 4-3 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,157 at the Tullio Arena. Jaroslav Janus also shone in the shootout stopping all three Greyhounds attempts to go along with 32 saves in regulation and overtime. Brian Shaw, Shawn Szydlowski and Tyler Hostetter scored in regulation for the Otters, who won their fourth straight to move to 27-23-2-0 on the season. Brock Beukeboom, Jake Carrick and Matthew Lyall replied for the Greyhounds, losers of their 10 games to sink to 16-33-2-2 on the year. The Otters led 3-1 after one and 3-2 heading into the third. Lyall's goal with 70 remaining in regulation forced overtime. The Otters out shot the Greyhounds 38-35 in the game as Cody St. Jacques took the loss. The three stars of the game were all from the Otters. O'Reilly was the first, Szydlowski the second and Janus the third.

The Otters continue a five-game home stand tomorrow (Saturday) night when the Saginaw Spirit visit for a 7 p.m. contest. It's Turn Back the Clock Night presented by Arlington Lawn Care.
