Evansville Otters News Release

Trevor Hall's three-run homerun in the fifth inning proved to be the difference in the ballgame as the Florence Freedom topped the Evansville Otters 5-2.

The Freedom got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning. The Otters tied it in the top of the second. Steve Martin singled and stole second. After a Terrence McClain strikeout, Trask Munoz singled in Martin to knot the game at 1-1. Evansville would take a lead in the top of the fifth when Juan Downing singled home Denver Stuckey to make it 2-1 Otters.

Florence would take the lead for good in the bottom of the inning. Keith Black (0-1) got the first two batters of the inning for Evansville, but then Josh Sanchez got a bunt base hit. Wally Quigg then blooped a single over the head of Brian McKenna moving Sanchez to third. Mike Galloway singled through the left side, scoring Sanchez to tie the game at 2-2. Hall then hit a 2-0 pitch over the left field fence for the 5-2 lead.

The Otters got a ninth inning homer from Terrence McClain to round out the scoring.

Joel Posey (2-0) was masterful for the Freedom as he threw eight innings, allowing five hits, two runs, walking three and striking out 10.

The two teams wrap up the series tomorrow night with Andre Simpson (1-0) taking the hill for the Otters against Jason Bowlin for the Freedom. Simpson has a chance to make Otters history as he is currently tied with Jeff Leystra for the most wins in franchise history at 15. The game will begin at 6:05 p.m. CST and can be heard on 91.5 FM, WUEV.
