Erie Otters News Release
Erie, PA - The Otters dominated possession and gave the school day crowd a lot to cheer about in a 7-1 win over the Guelph Storm Wednesday at Erie Insurance Arena.
Dylan Strome made his presence known in the first period with two goals. His first goal came at 3:14 with an assist from Taylor Raddysh. He scored his second of the day at 8:58 unassisted to give the Otters a two goal advantage that would stand for the first 20 minutes.
The Otters dominance in the offensive zone continued shortly into the second period. Alex DeBrincat extended his 16-game point streak with his OHL-leading 32nd goal of the season just 15 seconds into the period. Guelph was awarded a penalty shot less than a minute later, and Isaac Ratcliffe capitalized to make the score 3-1. Vanya Lodnia netted his ninth of the campaign for Erie at 6:22 on the power play to give the Otters the three goal lead again. That lead was extended to 4-1 by Kyle Maksimovich at 14:46 with his tenth goal of the season.
The third period featured Otters goals from Travis Dermott and Brett Neumann. Neumann's goal at 18:27 was his 1st career OHL goal. The final score was 7-1 with the Otters out-shooting the Storm 50-12.
The Otters have a weekend doubleheader Friday and Saturday December 4th and 5th against the Owen Sound Attack at Erie Insurance Area. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
