July 2, 2008, Evansville, IN - Evansville dropped their third straight game as they fell 5-4 to Southern Illinois. The Miners took an early 3-0 lead, but the Otters battled back with three in the third inning to tie the game. Southern Illinois came back to push across two runs in the sixth inning that would end up being too much for Evansville to overcome. Ryan Bird (5-3) picked up the win for the Miners going six innings and striking out six. Justin Jordan (4-5) took the loss as he gave up five runs in his six innings of work. Christian Reyes picked up two RBI in his return to the line up. The Otters will return to the field at 7:05 CDT as they try to salvage one game out of the three game series. It's Thirsty Thursday at Bosse Field, followed by a fireworks show brought to you by Kenny Kent Chevrolet.
