Evansville Otters News Release

RICHMOND, IN – The Otters jumped out to a 6-0 lead before holding on to defeat the Richmond Roosters by a score of 7-5. The win guarantees the Otters at least a .500 record on their first road trip of the season,

Evansville scored three runs in the second and then three more in the third, the big blow being Carlos Brackley's second homer of the year.

The Roosters wasted no time chipping into the Evansville lead, as they scored single runs in the fourth and sixth, sandwiched around a three-run fifth to cut the lead to 6-5.

It would remain 6-5 until the eighth when Terrence McClain hit his first homer of the season, an opposite field shot to make the final 7-5.

Andre Simpson picked up the win for the Otters moving to 2-1 on the season allowing four runs, only one of them earned, over five innings. Kevin Miller, Jason Faigin, A. J. Ampi and Amad Stephens came in to lock down the game for Evansville. Faigin was particularly good in the game, recording strikeouts for all five of the outs he notched in the contest.

The Otters start Scott Barber in the series finale against Pete Byrum for the Roosters.
