Ottawa Senators Acquire Forward

OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators (@Senators) general manager Pierre Dorion announced today that the club has acquired forward Viktor Stalberg from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Ottawa's third-round selection in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Stalberg, 31, has scored nine goals and added three assists while recording 33 penalty minutes in 57 games with the Hurricanes this season. The 6-3, 209-pound native of Gothenburg, Sweden, has played in 470 career NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, New York Rangers and Carolina.

Originally drafted by Toronto with their sixth-round selection (161st overall) in the 2006 NHL Draft, Stalberg has played in 43 career playoff games, including 19 games while winning the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2013.

Stalberg is currently in Florida and is expected to join the Senators for their game on Thursday against Colorado.
