
Monarchs Announce Roster Moves

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that the team has signed Wade Murphy to a Standard Player Contract, and Rihards Bukarts has been recalled by the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL).
The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings and the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign.
Murphy, 23, signs his SPC after playing two games with the Monarchs since signing an Amateur Tryout on Feb. 23. Murphy scored his first professional goal in his first professional game, Feb. 25 against Alaska. Prior to joining the Monarchs, Murphy played 31 games for Arizona State University, where he scored 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists, while earning 30 penalty minutes.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Victoria, British Columbia, began his collegiate career at the University of North Dakota where he played 35 games over the course of two seasons. Murphy was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the seventh round (185th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Bukarts, 21, heads to Springfield after playing 28 games for the Monarchs where he scored 23 points on 15 goals and eight assists. Bukarts was assigned to the Monarchs on Nov. 23. With the Thunderbirds, Bukarts played 12 games and scored seven points on one goal and six assists.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound native of Jurmala, Latvia spent the last three seasons in the WHL with the Brandon Wheat Kings and Portland Winterhawks where he played 192 games and scored 190 points on 92 goals and 98 assists.
Murphy and the Monarchs are back in action Wednesday, Mar. 1 (7:05 p.m.) when they open a three game road trip in Elmira, when they take on the -Jackals in an important North Division matchup.
The Monarchs return home to SNHU Arena on Friday, Mar. 10 (7 p.m.), when they host the Adirondack Thunder for the final time in the regular season, as both teams jockey for the top spot in the North Division and home-ice in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
