Indianapolis Indians News Release
COLUMBUS, OHIO - Jose Osuna clubbed two home runs early in the game on Wednesday night, and Jason Rogers singled home Alen Hanson in the 11th to help give the Indianapolis Indians the 5-4 victory over the Columbus Clippers.
The 11th inning rally began when Hanson took an extra base. He dropped a hit into the right-center field gap, and went to second on what would have been a single for most batters. Rogers then singled to center field to drive Hanson home for the go-ahead run.
Osuna belted his first home run in the second inning. It hit the batter's eye in center field, and the solo blast put the Indians (57-55) on the board after Columbus (61-51) plated two in the first.
A two-out rally led to Osuna's second long ball of the night. Rogers drew a walk to start the rally, and Josh Bell followed with a single through the right side. Osuna then clubbed a fastball to left-center field to put the Indians on top at the time, 4-2.
The Clippers tied the game in the fifth with the help of the free pass. Collin Cowgill and Eric Stamets drew walks and would later score on a single by Yandy Diaz and a sacrifice fly by Giovanny Urshela.
Dovydas Neverauskas (3-2) worked the extra frames for the Tribe to receive the win. Starter Drew Hutchison made his Pittsburgh Pirates organizational debut; he allowed four runs over his seven innings of work.
Craig Stammen (0-1) conceded Rogers' hit and was handed the defeat for the Clippers.
With the victory, the Indians now trail first-place Columbus by just four games. They'll play the series finale in central Ohio on Thursday night, first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Steven Brault (2-4, 2.15) will take the mound for the Tribe.
