ABERDEEN, MD - Matt Osterberg gave up one run in six innings in the longest outing of the season by a BlueClaws starter as Jersey Shore topped Aberdeen 5-2 on Thursday.
The BlueClaws (20-19) get back over .500 with the win and have taken three of the first four from the IronBirds (19-22).
Trailing 1-0, the BlueClaws opened the scoring in the top of the third on a two-run home run by Rixon Wingrove. It was his eighth home run of the season, most on the team.
The BlueClaws tacked on three more in the fourth inning. Leandro Pineda singled home one and Caleb Ricketts then singled home two more to put the BlueClaws up 5-1.
Jersey Shore starter Matt Osterberg (1-2) came out after six innings, allowing one run on four hits. He added six strikeouts and walked three. Sam Jacobsak threw a 1-2-3 seventh inning. Aberdeen got a run back in the eighth, but Tommy McCollum came on in the ninth and struck out Jackon Holliday to end the game. It was McCollumn's second save.
Ricketts and Pineda had two hits apiece for Jersey Shore.
Aberdeen starter Cooper Chandler (1-3) gave up five runs ,three earned, in 3.1 innings and took the loss.
The teams continue their series on Friday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Gunner Mayer starts for Jersey Shore.
