Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
MISSOULA, MT - The Ogden Raptors completed the four game sweep of the Osprey on Wednesday night at Allegiance Field at Ogren Park with a 9-0 win to clinch the Southern Division 1st half title and punch a ticket to the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Osprey, who are chasing Idaho Falls for Northern Division 1st half title, stayed only 2 games back of the first place Chukars who lost to Orem
9-7 tonight. After an off day on Thursday, the Osprey will pick up their pursuit of the playoff berth with 7 games left in the 1st half. Friday the Osprey will travel to Great Falls for a three game series Friday through Sunday. They will then return home to face the first place Idaho Falls Chukars on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in a series that very well will decide the 1st half Northern Division Champion. The 1st half will then end on that Thursday, July 25th as the Osprey host Billings.
Wednesday night's game saw Ogden continue their red hot season. The Raptors broke open a close game with a pair of late 3 run innings in the 6th and 7th. Heading into the 6th , the Osprey were only trailing 3-0, but Ogden extended the lead to 9-0 with the two rallies. Ogden has a chance to break the Pioneer League record for most wins in a half. After tonight's win, they are 25-6 with 7 games left. The league record is 30 wins in a half by Provo in 2003. So if Ogden goes 5-2 the rest of the way they tie the record. Six wins will break it.
Friday, Osprey will continue their pursuit of the Northern Division Title to join Ogden in the playoffs. The O's travel to Great Falls for games Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They then return home for a seven game homestand on Monday. The first four games of the homestand will be the final games of the 1st half. The Osprey are 2 games back of Idaho Falls with 7 games left. But next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the Osprey host Idaho Falls in a critical series for both teams. Be sure and get your tickets to come out and support your O's as they pursue the 1st half title next week!
