Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

GRAND JUNCTION, CO. - The Grand Junction Rockies (12-10) used a three-run third inning to defeat the Missoula Osprey (10-12) by a final score of 5-2. The two-out rally against Missoula starter Dallas Newton (0-1) was sparked by consecutive walks to Forrest Wall and Omar Carrizales. Matt McBride drove in a run off an RBI single and catcher Hamlet Marte would plate two off a single to right field.

The three runs in the third would prove to be enough as both teams traded a run in the fifth and sixth innings. Centerfielder Maik Ehmcke went 2-4 and his lead off double In the fifth inning would lead to his eighth run scored of the year thanks to a Tyler Humphreys RBI single.

After a Grand Junction run in the bottom half of the inning, Missoula added its final run of the night on a Kevin Cron RBI single to score Fernery Ozuna in the sixth inning.

The Osprey managed seven hits on the night, five of which were off victorious Rockies' starter Carlos Polanco (3-2). Polanco matched a season-high with six innings and two earned runs with a pair of walks and four strikeouts. The Grand Junction bullpen combination of Craig Schlitter, Gavin Glanz, and Alec Crawford kept the Osprey off the scoreboard with each hurler tossing a scoreless inning.

For the second game in a row, Missoula saw good work out of its late-inning bullpen. Jency Solis and Derek Cape each worked a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Osprey catcher B.J. Lopez picked off a pair of runners at second base to nullify early scoring threats.

The four-game series with the Rockies continues tomorrow night in Grand Junction with a 7:05 p.m. start. Tickets for all Osprey games are available at the MSO Hub Box Office, by phone at (406) 543-3300 and online at MissoulaOsprey.com.
