Franco and Pollock Lift Chukars Past Mustangs

BILLINGS, MT -- The Chukars pound the Mustangs for sixteen hits, with half of them coming from the Wander Franco and Kyle Pollock duo. Idaho Falls paces Billings 10-6 to open up seven game road trip against the Pioneer League North.

Idaho Falls (11-11) moves to .500 for the first time this season, and the action started in the top of the first inning. Luis Valenzuela began the game with a double, and Corey Toups singled him to third. Ryan O'Hearn laced a line drive single to center to get the squad on the board 1-0. The knock increased the Pioneer League Player of the Week's hit streak to 11 games, making him 20 for his last 40 at-bats.

The runs kept coming in the first inning. Wander Franco reached on an infield single that scored another run. Mike Hill's ground ball single to right brought in Ryan O'Hearn. Robert Pehl would score on a sacrifice fly to cap off a four run inning.

Wander Franco increased the lead with a solo home run in the third inning. It was the first home run of the season for the designated hitter. Franco finished the game 4 for 5 with two runs batted in. Kyle Pollock's biggest hit came in the eighth inning, a line drive single to right field that scored two runs and bounced the Greybirds lead back to four runs.

Mike Jeffreys got the start for the Chukars, and pitched into the fifth inning. Javier Reynoso (1-2) escaped a fifth inning jam by stranding two runners in scoring position to keep the Idaho Falls lead.

Idaho Falls and Billings continues their four game series tomorrow night. Torey Deshazier is scheduled to start for Idaho Falls, against Jeremy Kivel.
