Chicago Stars FC News Release
CHICAGO, Ill. - Chicago Red Stars defender Taryn Hemmings was selected today by the Orlando Pride in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Expansion Draft.
Hemmings, 29, who recorded one goal and one assist in her 3rd season with the Red Stars, was selected third overall by the Pride in the Expansion Draft. In 2015, Hemmings logged over 1500 minutes of playing time and also provided veteran leadership in the Red Stars best NWSL finish in team history.
"Anytime there's an expansion draft you're bracing yourself for the loss of a player that has meant a lot to the club, and that's definitely an understatement today having Taryn selected by Orlando," said Red Stars General Manager Alyse LaHue. "She is a tremendous leader and has been an integral part of our success as a club. We wish her nothing but the best in the next steps of her career."
The Pride also selected Ashlyn Harris (Washington Spirit), Jasmyne Spencer (Western New York Flash), Jamia Fields (Western New York Flash), Cami Levin (Sky Blue FC), Liannne Sanderson (Portland Thorns FC), Toni Pressley (Houston Dash), Maddy Evans (Boston Breakers) and Aubrey Bledsoe (Sky Blue FC).
