Orlando City SC News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando City SC (1-0-3, 6 points) heads back out on the road this weekend, set to face D.C. United (2-3-0, 6 points) on Sunday, May 16 at Audi Field. Sunday's match is set to kick off at 8 p.m. ET, with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. on FOX35 PLUS.
The match, presented by Pizza Hut, in addition to being locally broadcast on FOX35 PLUS will be available to stream on LionNation TV, while being transmitted on Real Radio 104.1 in English and Acción 97.9FM, 810AM in Spanish.
"It's a good moment for us to go away and try and add more points in a very busy week for D.C. United, but also a big opportunity for us to just go and find a good result," Head Coach Oscar Pareja said ahead of Sunday's fixture. "The boys have been working very hard during the week. I don't have any doubt that it's going to be a very competitive match. To go away and try to prove to ourselves that we're doing the right things is obviously a challenge, but we'll be prepared."
Sunday will mark the first time the Lions will face off against D.C. United since June 26, 2019, with the capital-based side serving as one of just three Eastern Conference opponents City did not face a year ago, along with FC Cincinnati and Toronto FC.
City enters Sunday's contest after battling to a 1-1 draw with 2015 expansion rivals New York City FC last weekend. Nani scored the Lions' lone goal in the match just after the halftime break, with the visitors answering from the penalty spot off the foot of Valentín Castellanos to close out the scoring on the evening.
Nani leads the Lions with three goals this season, all of which have come in the Club's last three matches. Chris Mueller leads the side with two assists and has the chance to make his 100th appearance for the Club across all competitions with minutes on Sunday.
D.C. United comes into the match facing a quick turnaround, having faced Chicago Fire FC on Thursday night at Audi Field. The home side took all three points from the match, with Edison Flores scoring the eventual game-winner in the seventh minute of play.
Five members of the side have found the back of the net for D.C. United through five matches, while goalkeeper Jon Kempin earned the clean sheet in his first start for the Black and Red on Thursday.
Following Sunday's match, the Lions will return home to host Toronto FC on Saturday, May 22 at Exploria Stadium. Kickoff for that fixture is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
