Orlando City SC News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando City SC (12-9-11, 47 points) closes out its regular-season home slate on Sunday, Oct. 31 against Nashville SC (12-4-7, 52 points). Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET at Exploria Stadium.
The match, presented by AUDI, will be nationally telecast on UniMás and TUDN with English commentary available on Twitter. The fixture will also be transmitted on Real Radio 104.1 in English and Acción 97.9FM, 810AM in Spanish.
"It's important for us to be focused on that [Nashville] game and on the importance of the points after obviously not getting the result in Columbus, because now the time is urgent for all the teams that are tied in the standings," said Head Coach Oscar Pareja. "The boys are working hard, like always, and using the extra day that we had in order to have the team with energy for that game. As usual from me it's just trying to keep all the boys with energy and with the belief in what we're doing. It's a good opportunity for us here to put our presence in front of our fans and try to win it."
Sunday will mark the third time the Lions have faced off against the Music City-based side this season and the first of the year at Exploria Stadium. City took a pair of draws from Nissan Stadium throughout the 2021 campaign, most recently taking a 2-2 result at the death on Sept. 29 behind a stoppage-time own goal forced by Benji Michel.
City enters Sunday's match looking to bounce back from a 3-2 loss in Columbus on Wednesday. Daryl Dike and Robin Jansson each scored for the Lions in the match, but the second-half rally came up short with the side dropping a decision for the first time in six matches.
Nani leads the Lions with 10 goals this season, followed by Dike now with eight. Mauricio Pereyra continues to hold the team high in assists at 10, one shy of setting a new single-season Club record.
Nashville comes to Orlando after battling to a come-from-behind win at FC Cincinnati on Wednesday night to take a 6-3 victory on the night. Braces from Randall Leal and C.J. Sapong along with finishes from Walker Zimmerman and Ake Loba led the Music City-based side to take all three points from the fixture.
Hany Mukhtar leads Nashville with 14 goals this season, followed by Sapong with 12. Mukhtar also leads the side in assists with 12 on the year.
Following Sunday's match, the Lions will close out the 2021 MLS Regular Season with a visit to CF Montréal on Decision Day on Sunday, Nov. 6 at Stade Saputo.
