October 30, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New York Red Bulls News Release
The New York Red Bulls (13-12-7, 46 points) defeated CF Montréal (11-12-10, 43 points), 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Red Bull Arena.
The Red Bulls scored the game-winning goal in the 91st minute, when forward Patryk Klimala sprinted down the right sideline and delivered a cross to the far post. Midfielder Caden Clark headed the ball across to Fábio, who headed the lay off in the back of the net.
New York extended their home unbeaten streak to six matches for the first time since 2018.
The Red Bulls are 7-1-2 in their last 10 matches and have only conceded four goals, which ranks first in MLS in that timespan.
Fábio scored his sixth goal of the season and his first since September 17 against Inter Miami CF. He recorded his third game-winning goal of the year, which is tied for the team lead.
The Brazilian striker's 91st minute goal was the latest game-winning goal for New York this season.
Since 2018, New York has posted a 21-10-11 record in matches after a loss, including a 5-4-3 mark this season.
Making his first appearance since October 9, Clark tallied his fourth assist of the season and his first since July 31 against New England Revolution.
Klimala added his seventh assist of the year, which is tied with Fábio for the team lead. Out of his seven assists, four of them have been game-winning, which leads the team.
The Polish striker has recorded a goal or an assist in seven of his last 12 matches.
Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel recorded his 12th shutout of the season and his eighth at Red Bull Arena. He currently ranks tied for second in MLS in shutouts.
With the shutout tonight, Coronel moved into second place for most shutouts in a single season in franchise history. His 12 shutouts are second to Luis Robles's 14 in 2018.
New York's 12 clean sheets is the third most in a single season in franchise history.
Since 2015, New York is 91-19-23 when scoring the first goal of the match, including a 13-5-3 mark this season.
New York Captain Sean Davis made his 170th MLS regular season appearance and moved into sole possession of third place all-time in franchise history in MLS regular season games played.
The Red Bulls posted a 5-1-0 record in October, which is tied for the most wins in a single month in franchise history (July 2000).
In the five wins of October, New York had five different game-winning goal scorers in Andrew Gutman, Klimala, Cristian Cásseres, Jr., Sean Nealis, and Fábio.
New York has only allowed 11 goals at Red Bull Arena this season, which ranks the second lowest in MLS this year and the third lowest in franchise history.
Gutman made his 50th career MLS regular season appearance in today's victory.
Following Saturday's match, New York will play their final home match of the 2021 regular season against Atlanta United FC on Wednesday, November 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on MSG, MSG GO, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
