Orem Sweeps Raptors Again

The Ogden Raptors dropped their sixth straight game in a 7-1 loss to the Orem Owlz Sunday at Brent Brown Ballpark.

The Owlz have swept two straight two-game series against Ogden.

The Owlz took the lead with timely hitting the in the third inning. With one out, RJ Santigate reached on an error and moved to second on a walk to Caleb Adams. Bo Way then hit a double off the wall in right to give the Owlz a 2-0 lead.

After the Raptors scored in the fifth on an RBI single by Austin Cowen, the Owlz answered when Zach Houchins hit a solo homer to center to extend the Owlz lead to 3-1.

Orem put it out of reach with four runs in the seventh. Santigate hit a bloop, two-run single to center to score Natanael Rodriguez and Michael Hermosillo. Two batters later, Bo Way singled to center to plate Santigate, and Raul Linares followed with an RBI double to give the Owlz a 7-1 lead.

Raptors starter Bernardo Reyes was give the tough-luck loss. The right-hander pitched six innings and allowed just three hits and three runs, two earned, with four strikeouts and one walk.

Justin Chigbogu extended his hitting streak to a league-high 15 games with a single in the first inning.

The Raptors return home to Lindquist Field for a three-game series against the Idaho Falls Chukars starting Monday. Lefty Victor Gonzalez takes the mound for Ogden against Jake Newberry. Game starts at 7:00 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
