PITTSBURGH - For the second consecutive week, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC defender Arturo Ordóñez was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, the league announced this afternoon.
Ordóñez earned the Week 13 honor after scoring his second straight game-winning goal for the Hounds, heading in a Kenardo Forbes free kick in the first half for the only goal in a 1-0 win over Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday. The Spanish center back also preserved the lead in the second half with a headed clearance away from the Hounds' goal line, which allowed the team to maintain its third straight clean sheet.
Including the play on the goal line, Ordóñez totaled five clearances, took possession six times and won 4 of 5 duels for the ball, including all three in the air.
With this week's honor, Ordóñez joins Albert Dikwa as the only Hounds to be in the first 11 of the Team of the Week multiple times in 2023. To see the entire Team of the Week, visit uslchampionship.com.
Ordóñez and the Hounds are back on the field tonight, when they visit FC Cincinnati for a 7 p.m. U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal at TQL Stadium. The match will be shown on the B/R Football YouTube channel and B/R Football mobile app.
