BILOXI, MS - In a game that saw 15 runs, 19 hits, 15 walks and four home runs, the Biloxi Shuckers (12-17) fell to the Columbus Clingstones (15-14), 8-7, at Keesler Federal Park on Wednesday night. Despite the loss, Matthew Wood recorded his first career grand slam and Dylan O'Rae reached base three times in a multi-hit performance. Across the first two games of the series, O'Rae is 5-for-8 with a pair of walks.

The Shuckers struck early and often with a six-run first inning, tying their season-high for runs in an inning. Blake Burke started the scoring with an RBI single to center, and Darrien Miller extended his hit streak to five consecutive games with an RBI double to right-center, making it 2-0. Later in the inning, Matthew Wood smashed the Shuckers first extra-base hit with the bases loaded this season, a 103 MPH, 358-foot grand slam to right-center. The Clingstones responded with a pair in the top of the second off an RBI single from Cal Conley and a sacrifice fly from Ethan Workinger. The Shuckers made it 7-2 in the bottom of the second on a 103 MPH, 377-foot blast from Blake Burke, his ninth of the season. The Clingstones then responded with six unanswered runs, including five in the third inning. The five runs came home on a solo home run from Jordan Groshans, an RBI single from Ethan Workinger and a three-RBI double from Tyler Tolve. The Clingstones took an 8-7 lead in the seventh on a solo home run from Adam Zebrowski. Luis Vargas (2-1) earned the win while Cameron Wagoner (0-1) took the loss. Tyler LaPorte also picked up his first save of the season.

At the plate, Dylan O'Rae (2-for-4) and Blake Burke (2-for-5) each recorded multi-hit performances. The Shuckers bullpen also combined to allow one run over six innings with six strikeouts, including scoreless performances from Stiven Cruz (1.0ip, 1k), Joe Corbett (1.0ip, 1k), Jesús Broca (1.2ip, 2k) and Ryan Birchard (1.0ip, 1k).

The series continues on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Manuel Rodriguez (1-2, 5.64) is slated to start for the Shuckers against Shay Schanaman (2-0, 4.05) for the Clingstones. Tiki Thursday, presented by Coca-Cola, Kicker108 and PBR puts the Corona Premier Tiki Bar front and center all night long.
