Ontario Reign Game Preview: Reign and San Diego Gulls Close Preseason Tonight

Ontario Reign News Release
Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign close the 2015 preseason tonight against the San Diego Gulls at 7:00 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Rivalry Established:
The Reign and Gulls opened the preseason last Friday at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California with the Gulls prevailing 3-2 in the shootout. Defenseman Alex Roach and forward Valentin Zykov provided the scoring. In the regular season, the two teams meet 12 times (six home, six away) starting Thursday, November 5 in Ontario.
Dynamic Duo:
The Ontario Reign is led by Head Coach Mike Stothers and Assistant Coach Chris Hajt. Last season marked Stothers' first as a head coach in the professional ranks and Hajt's first as an assistant. Together, the two helped the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) capture their first Calder Cup Championship after an impressive 50-17-9 regular season.
The Boys Are Back in Town:
Of the 28 players currently on the Ontario Reign training camp roster, 14 skated with the AHL-champion Monarchs last season.
The Team Behind the Team:
Athletic Trainer Mike Muir and Equipment Manager Trevor Simpson join the Reign after helping the Monarchs last season.
Familiar Faces:
Forwards Maxim Kitsyn, Matt White and defenseman Alex Roach skated at Citizens Business Bank Arena with the ECHL's Ontario Reign last season.
History Collides:
The Ontario Reign (ECHL and AHL combined) is celebrating their eighth season and first in the American Hockey League. The Los Angeles Kings' AHL affiliate moves from Manchester, New Hampshire and celebrates their 15th season of AHL action.
Gulls Return:
The San Diego Gulls return to hockey for the first time since 2013 when they were a member of the Western States Hockey League. The Gulls have inhabited San Diego since 1966 as members of the Western Hockey League (1966-1974), International Hockey League (1990-95), West Coast Hockey League (1995-2003), East Coast Hockey League/ECHL (2003-2006) and Western States Hockey League (2008-13). The Gulls are the AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League, who moved their "AAA" affiliation from the Norfolk Admirals last summer.
