Devils Sign Goaltender Ken Appleby

Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today signed goaltender Ken Appleby to a three- year, entry-level contract. The announcement was made by Devils' Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

Appleby, 20, attended Devils' training camp as an amateur tryout, after previously attending the team's development camp in July. The 6-5, 215-lb. netminder spent the past three seasons with Oshawa (OHL), where he helped lead the Generals to the 2015 Ontario Hockey League and Memorial Cup Championships. In 2014-15, he led the league with a 2.08 goals-against average, .924 save percentage, and six shutouts (tie), and was second with 38 wins. During the OHL Playoffs, Appleby posted a 16-5 mark, with 2 ShO and a 2.24 GAA. This past season, he was the co-recipient of the Dave Pinkney Trophy for fewest team goals against, named to the OHL's Second All-Star Team, Memorial Cup Most Outstanding Goaltender and Memorial Cup All-Star Team. Born April 10, 1995 in North Bay, Ont., his three-season totals showed a 55-18-9 record, with 9 ShO and a 2.28 GAA in 92 regular-season OHL appearances.
