Akron RubberDucks News Release

Akron's Bobby Bradley scored the game-winning run on a dropped third strike with two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning Saturday night as the RubberDucks slipped by the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, 1-0, at Canal Park in Akron, Ohio.

Turning Point

The RubberDucks (54-38) walked off victorious for the second straight night when Bradley raced home from third base with the winning run after Ponies reliever Matt Blackham (0-1) appeared to strike out Sam Haggerty for the third out of the 12th. The pitch, however, skipped by catcher Pat Mazeika, and rolled to the back wall, allowing Haggerty to reach first and Bradley to score to end the game. The play was officially ruled a passed ball. Bradley had begun the inning at second base as the designated runner and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Connor Marabell.

Mound Presence

Newcomer R.C. Orlan (1-0) picked up a win in his Akron debut after being added to the roster earlier in the day. The lefty tossed two scoreless innings in the 11thand 12thto claim the relief win. Akron starter Sean Brady took a no-hitter into the 7thinning before giving up a one-out single to Levi Michael. Brady lasted 7.2 innings and surrendered only three hits. The Ducks also got scoreless relief from Henry Martinez (1.1 IP) and Nick Pasquale (1.0 IP) to complete the whitewash.

Duck Tales

One night after walking off with an 8-7 win in 11 innings, the Ducks were held to just eight hits by four Ponies hurlers. Akron did not record a hit in the extra frames. Bradley led the way with two hits.
