
Big Inning Dooms Baysox in 8-3 Defeat

Reading, PA: Reading saw their first five batters reach in a six-run fourth inning rally that buried the Baysox on Saturday evening at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Baysox clawed back but fell by an 8-3 final score.
Baysox starter Reid Love had a solid and efficient start to the game. He got through the first three innings in just 27 pitches allowing just a solo home run from Damek Tomscha. But in the fourth inning Reading got rolling. A five-pitch walk to Adam Haseley was followed by four consecutive singles. When the damage was done, Reading had sent ten men to the plate and had scored six times and the Baysox trailed 7-0.
Bowie had six hits in the first four innings but were unable to score. in the fourth inning, with two on and one down Audry Perez grounded into an inning ending double play. The Baysox also left the bases loaded in the eighth inning.
But in the ninth the Baysox got going. After consecutive one-out walks from Martin Cervenka and Erick Salcedo, Ryan McKenna lined a single to center loading the bases. D'Arby Myers grounded out to bring in a run. That was followed by an RBI-single for Corban Joseph and an RBI-double off the base of the left field wall for Aderlin Rodriguez to make it 8-3. With runners at second and third, Anthony Santander flied out to left to end the game.
McKenna's ninth inning single extended his hit streak to 12 games. Cervenka walked a season-high three times in the contest. Matt Grimes allowed just a run in three innings of relief. Zach Muckenhirn retired the lone man he faced and Michael Kelly through a scoreless eighth inning.
The series concludes in Reading Sunday July 15th at 2:15 p.m. with LHP Keegan Akin getting the start for Bowie. Coverage will begin 20-minutes prior on wnav.com, milb.com and via the Tune-In Radio App by searching Baysox.
