Iowa Cubs News Release
DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (46-68) recorded just two hits as they dropped the series finale 8-1 to the Toledo Mud Hens (67-47), Sunday at Principal Park.
Toledo jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when top prospect Riley Greene hit a two-run shot off of Luis Lugo. Lugo settled down after that, working around five hits and three walks to allow just the two earned runs over his five innings.
The I-Cubs got one run back in the bottom of the fifth on their only hit of the game until the ninth inning, a solo shot from Jared Young to cut the deficit in half. Erich Uelmen relieved Lugo and allowed three runs in the sixth and three in the seventh highlighted by home runs from Kody Clemens and Ryan Kreidler.
Up 8-2, relievers Angel De Jesus, Wladimir Pinto and Will Vest struck out six combined hitters over the final four innings to secure the series finale, giving Toledo the 5-1 series win.

- Brendon Little threw 1.2 scoreless innings, striking out three batters along the way.
- All but two batters in Iowa's starting lineup recorded at least one strikeout, with four walks and two hits, a solo home run and single both from Jared Young.
