Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - One rookie forward has headed back to the American Hockey League while another is headed to Idaho to join the Steelheads.

Head coach and director of hockey operations Hardy Sauter announced Monday that Sean Backman has been recalled by the AHL's Texas Stars. In a separate transaction, the Stars have assigned Tristan King, another rookie forward, to the Steelheads.

Sauter is already familiar with King. Prior to turning pro, King spent four seasons in the Western Hockey League, where Sauter coached prior to becoming the bench boss for the Steelheads. In his final two seasons of major junior hockey, King tallied 101 points (35 goals, 66 assists) in 117 games for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL.

The 20-year-old has skated in nine games for the AHL's Stars so far this season, totaling four points (two goals, two assists) along the way.

Backman skated in five games with Idaho, scoring two goals and adding two assists. The Yale product played nine games with Texas before being re-assigned to Idaho earlier this month.

Idaho (ECHL) and Texas (AHL) are the primary development affiliates of the Dallas Stars.

The Steelheads will be back at Qwest Arena with games on December 2, 3, and 4 against the rival Alaska Aces. A group night with the Steelheads is a great way to celebrate the holidays with family, friends, and co-workers - and you can save money on ticket prices too.
