Memphis, Tenn. - After a nearly two-hour rain delay Omaha used a solo home run to beat Memphis 1-0 and even the series at a game apiece.

Aaron Guiel scored the games only run when he blasted a solo home run to right field in the top of the first inning. Guiel was the only player to register a multi-hit night when he doubled in the sixth inning. Memphis received seven hits from seven different players and out hit the Royals 7-5.

The rains came again in the bottom of the sixth inning and delayed the game 24 minutes. The rain also chased Omaha starter Seth Etherton (1-1), who pitched 5.1 scoreless innings and picked up his first win with the Royals. Memphis missed out on several opportunities leaving 10 men on base.

Redbirds starter Dennis Tankersley (2-8) worked six solid innings but took his eighth loss of the season. The right-hander tied a Redbirds season-high with nine strikeouts and allowed just four hits.

Memphis and Omaha will meet tomorrow afternoon at 2:10 p.m. Southpaw Chris Narveson (1-0) will be on the bump for the ‘Birds and Runelvys Hernandez (3-3) will take the ball for the Royals.
