Omaha Beef To Host Rival Sioux City Bandits In Regular Season Finale

Omaha, NE - To close out the regular season, the Omaha Beef professional indoor football team will take one of their Interstate 29 rivals, the Sioux City Bandits, Saturday evening at 7 p.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The game will be the second time this season between the two teams and the 18th in the past seven years.

Omaha will look to get back to their winning ways after falling to the Bloomington Extreme 64-43 last Saturday at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The 9-4 BEEF defeated the 4-9 Bandits earlier this season 53-47 on May 10th in Sioux City. Quarterback James McNear led the way offensively with 210 yards of total offense (52 rushing and 158 passing) and threw for six touchdown passes. Brent Hafford led the defense with a game-high 13.5 tackles and an interception. Ricky Lebeda and R.J. Rollins led the special teams contributing 11 points (2-3 field goals, 5-7 extra points) and returning five kicks for 88 yards, respectively. Sioux City came within six after scoring with two seconds left in the game. On the ensuing kickoff, Chris Eads recovered the on-side kick try by the Bandits, preserving the win for the BEEF. Omaha and the Bandits both sit in the top five of several UIF categories, primarily the offensive ones.

The BEEF currently sit tied for second place of the Western Conference with their 9-4 record. The Western Conference playoff picture will be known after Saturday's action as the Sioux Falls Storm host the Bloomington and the Billings Outlaws travel to RiverCity (St. Charles, Missouri) to take on the Rage.

Offense/Special Teams Coordinator Tommie Williams said the game is one that exudes a lot of emotion and will be a good test before the playoffs.

"The guys are fired up for this game because Sioux City is one of our fiercest rivals," Williams said. "The Bandits always play us tough as evidenced in our May 10th game in Sioux City."

Saturday's game will be "Orange Out" night as the first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive an orange t-shirt. In addition to the game on Saturday, the BEEF have a slew of activities for fans to attend.

* The team's pre-game meal will be held at Texas Roadhouse, 520 N. 155th Plaza in Omaha, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Fans are welcome to join the BEEF for their pre-game meal at Texas Roadhouse. * The "Drill and Drum Bash 2008" hosted by the team and their official drum line, the Salem Stepping Saints, featuring five drum and drill groups, will be held at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Admission is $6 per person. * The BEEF Boardwalk, which will have games, music and entertainment out near the entrance of the Omaha Civic Auditorium. * Following the game, the team will have a special auction to benefit 19-month-old Cale Ferrin of Omaha. Cale is the son of Justin and Britteny (former Prime Dancer and current Prime Dancers assistant coach) Ferrin of Omaha. Items to be auctioned off include the team's jerseys that they will wear in Saturday's game and also dinner dates with a Prime Dancer, a Rump Roaster and a BEEF player.
