
Beef To Face Rival Bandits Saturday

The Omaha BEEF will close out the regular season by hosting one of their rivals, the Sioux City Bandits, Saturday evening at 7 p.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium on "Orange Out" night. The first 2,500 fans through the doors will receive an orange t-shirt. The game will be the second meeting between the two teams this year and 18th in the past seven years. The BEEF won the previous meeting on May 10th in Sioux City by just six points, 53-47. Omaha is 9-4 and currently tied for second place in the Western Conference while Sioux City is 4-9 and sits third in the Eastern Conference.
Heading into Saturday's game, the BEEF rank in the top 5 of the UIF in the following categories:
- Scoring offense - 5th, averaging 42.7 points per game
- Scoring defense - 3rd, allowing only 34.9 points per game
- Passing offense - 5th, averaging 148 yards per game
- Passing defense - 4th, allowing only 150.2 yards per game
- Turnover margin - 1st, +17 (33 takeaways to 16 giveaways)
- Rushing offense - 1st, averaging 97.2 yards per game
- Rushing defense - 1st, allowing only 54.3 yards per game
- Total offense - 4th, averaging 245.2 yards per game
- Total defense - 2nd, allowing only 204.5 yards per game
Individually, the BEEF have several players ranking high as well:
- James McNear is 3rd in rushing, averaging 38.6 yards per game
- R.J. Rollins sits just behind him in 4th, averaging 37.2 yards per game
- McNear is 5th in passing average/game, tallying 143.8 yards per game
- McNear is also 4th in total offense, averaging 181.5 yards per game
- Ken Horton sits 10th in receptions/game and 8th in receive yds/game, tallying 4.38 and 51.7 respectively.
- Diezeas Calbert, Dustin Creager and Brent Hafford are among the league leaders in interceptions and passes defended.
- Ricky Lebeda is 1st with his 19 field goals, 2nd with 110 points and 4th with 53 extra points.
- Colin Bryant is 6th in sacks with five and 2nd in tackles for loss with 14.5.
- Teammates Demoine Adams, Hafford and James Head all have forced two fumbles.
In the BEEF's last action, the team fell to the Bloomington Extreme 64-43 last Saturday, June 7th, at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The team sits just one game behind the conference leader, the Sioux Falls Storm who are 10-3 on the season. The Western Conference playoff picture will be known after Saturday night's games as Omaha hosts Sioux City, Sioux Falls welcomes Bloomington and Billings travels to RiverCity.
SATURDAY IS BUSY DAY FOR BEEF AND OMAHA CIVIC AUDITORIUM
In addition to the game on Saturday, the BEEF will be busy with other events. The team's pre-game meal will be held at Texas Roadhouse, 520 N. 155th Plaza in Omaha, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Fans are welcome to join the BEEF for their pre-game meal at Texas Roadhouse.
At 3 p.m. (doors open at 2:30 p.m.) the BEEF, together with the Salem Stepping Saints, will host the "Drill and Drum Bash 2008" Saturday afternoon at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, 1804 Capitol Avenue, in Omaha. Admission is $6 per person. In addition to the Stepping Saints, the following groups will be performing:
- The Infamous Marchin' White Tigers from Wichita, Kansas
- The Isiserettes Drill and Drum Corp from Des Moines, Iowa
- The Lord's Warriors Drill Team from Waterloo, Iowa
- Willie Arthur Smith's Marching Cobras from Kansas City, Missouri
Fans are also encouraged to attend the BEEF Boardwalk before every home game, which will have games, music and entertainment out near the entrance of the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
After the game, a special live auction will be held to benefit Cale Ferrin. Cale is the 19-month-old son of Justin and Britteny Ferrin of Omaha and is battling Fanconi Anemia. Items to be auctioned include the team's jerseys that they wore during the game as well as dinner dates with a Prime Dancer, a Rump Roaster and a BEEF player.

On Wednesday evening at Indigo Joe's, the Omaha Beef Prime Dancers launched their website. The website, which can be accessed via the Internet at www.beefprimedancers.com, is the perfect source to find out more information about the 24-member squad. BEEF AND NOODLES PARTNERING TO BENEFIT BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF OMAHA
Looking for somewhere to treat Dad for Father's Day? Try Noodles and Company, located just off 72nd and Dodge. From 4 p.m. to close on Sunday evening, the BEEF and Noodles are partnering to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Omaha. A portion (25%) of the receipts during the time period will go to the club. To ensure that the receipts go to the club, fans are encouraged to bring in their game ticket from Saturday's game or the flier handed out at the game, or they can direct the employee that they want the money donated to the cause. Fans can sign up for prizes, which will be raffled off. Prizes include a Nintendo Wii, 2009 Omaha Beef season tickets, a BEEF Birthday Bash and mini helmets. Raffle proceeds will also be going to the Boys and Girls Club. There will also be special appearances by BEEF players, Prime Dancers and Rump Roasters throughout the evening.
BEEF ARE PLAYOFF BOUND FOR 9th SEASON IN A ROW
With the team's 53-47 win over the Sioux City Bandits on May 10th, the BEEF have clinched a playoff berth for the ninth time in nine seasons. The playoffs will begin June 21, which is next weekend. Who and where the BEEF will be playing will be known after this weekend's games.
