
United Indoor Football Week Fifteen Preview

Omaha, NE - The United Indoor Football regular season concludes this weekend. The playoff scenarios involving the Eastern Conference are set. Over in the Western Conference, we will find out who goes where after this weekend's games. Week fifteen offers the first match-up between two teams, a Week 1 re-match and two Week 10 re-matches. The games are as follows: the Wild and the Ice will clash tonight in Loveland while Saturday offers a rumble involving the Outlaws and the Rage in St. Charles, a battle between the Bandits and the Beef in Omaha and an "Extreme Storm" in Sioux Falls.
WICHITA (2-11) vs. COLORADO (5-8)
At Loveland, CO
Friday, 7:30 p.m. Mountain
The Colorado Ice will close out their home schedule by welcoming the Wichita Wild to the Budweiser Events Center this evening. The two teams met earlier this season with the Wild earning a 35-31 win on May 10th. In their last action, Colorado defeated Sioux Falls 29-24 last Friday at the Budweiser Events Center. The Ice were led by quarterback Garrett Mehl and a solid defensive effort. Mehl led the offense, tallying 209 yards of total offense (50 rushing and 159 passing) and had a hand in four total touchdowns (one rushing and three passing). Colorado's defense saw three players tally six tackles each while also tallying four tackles for loss, a sack, two interceptions, a pass break up and also blocked a kick. Wichita fell to Billings 58-31 last Saturday at home. In the game, the Wild were led by running back John Randle and defensive back J.R. Webber. Randle tallied 184 all-purpose yards (32 rushing, 13 receiving and 139 kickoff returns). Webber made a team-high 10 tackles and had a tackle for loss while also forced two fumbles (recovered one, returning it 25 yards for a touchdown) and blocked a kick.
BILLINGS (9-4) vs. RIVERCITY (6-7)
At St. Charles, MO
Saturday, 7 p.m. Central
The RiverCity Rage finish up their 2008 regular season home slate by hosting the Billings Outlaws Saturday evening at the Family Arena. The game marks the first time the two teams have played this season. In their last action, RiverCity beat Sioux City 41-27 last Saturday evening at the Tyson Events Center. Leading the way for the Rage were quarterback Ryan Maiuri and their defense. Maiuri tallied 129 yards of total offense (33 rushing and 96 passing) and had a hand in three total touchdowns (one rushing and two passing). The defense tallied four tackles for loss and one sack, forced two fumbles, recovered three, intercepted a pass and broke up two more. The Outlaws are coming off a 58-31 win last Saturday in Wichita. Billings was led by quarterback Chris Dixon and their defense. Dixon tallied 282 yards of total offense (75 rushing and 207 passing) and had a hand in seven touchdowns (one rushing and six passing). The Outlaws' defense tallied five tackles for loss and a sack, forced a fumble (recovered it), intercepted four passes and broke up two more.
SIOUX CITY (4-9) vs. OMAHA (9-4)
At Omaha, NE
Saturday, 7 p.m. Central
The Omaha Beef will close out the regular season by playing host to one of their rivals, the Sioux City Bandits, Saturday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The teams met in Sioux City on May 10th with Omaha winning 53-47. In their last action, the Beef fell to Bloomington 64-43 last Saturday at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Leading the way for Omaha were defensive back Dustin Creager and quarterback James McNear. Creager made a team-high 11 tackles to lead the defense. On offense, McNear tallied 236 yards of total offense (22 rushing and 214 passing) while also throwing for four touchdowns. Sioux City fell to RiverCity 41-27 last Saturday at home. Leading the way for the Bandits were quarterback Chad Kapanui and defensive back John Zevenbergen. Kapanui completed 20 of 33 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for a touchdown. Zevenbergen made two tackles while also intercepting a pass and breaking up two more.
BLOOMINGTON (7-6) vs. SIOUX FALLS (10-3)
At Sioux Falls, SD
Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Central
The Sioux Falls Storm finish up the 2008 regular season at home by welcoming the Bloomington Extreme to the Sioux Falls Arena for a Saturday night showdown. Earlier this season, the Storm defeated the Extreme 50-37 on March 8th. In their last action, Sioux Falls fell to Colorado 29-24 last Friday evening at the Budweiser Events Center. The Storm were led by linebacker Mark Blackburn and quarterback Terrance Bryant. Blackburn led the defense with a team-high seven tackles and also broke up three passes. Bryant accumulated 153 yards of total offense (14 rushing and 142 passing) and threw for three touchdowns to lead the offense. The Extreme defeated the Omaha Beef 64-43 Saturday evening at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Bloomington was led by quarterback Dusty Burk and their defense. Burk tallied 314 yards of total offense (75 rushing and 239 passing) and had a hand in eight of the team's nine touchdowns (three rushing and five passing). The Extreme's defense tallied two tackles for loss and two sacks while also breaking up a pass and recovering two fumbles.

At the conclusion of the UIF regular season and playoffs, the league's United Bowl champion will host the champion of the Intense Football League in the National Indoor Football Bowl Championship Game (NIBC) on July 26. The game is part of a two-year partnership between United Indoor Football and the Intense Football League. The two league champions will meet again in a second NIBC in 2009 at the home of the Intense Football League champion.
