Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs are pleased to welcome The Night Train Brakeman, Curt Tomasevicz, to Haymarket Park Thursday night. The gold medalist bobsledder and Nebraska native will throw out the first pitch before Thursday night's game against the Sioux City Explorers.
Curt began the sport of bobsledding in 2004 and made an appearance in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, only two years after his debut as a bobsledder. Curt has won the U.S. Nation Push Championships the past three seasons. He won his first World Cup gold medal with driver Steve Holcomb in Cesana, Italy in 2007.
As part of Team Night Train, Curt won the 4-man World Championships in Lake Placid in 2009. He also took the bronze medal in 2-man in the same World Championships. His greatest bobsledding accomplishment came in February of 2010 when his team won the Olympic Gold Medal in the four-man bobsled race in Vancouver. It was the first gold medal for the U.S. in bobsled in 62 years.
Tomasevicz was a solid special teams performer as a senior on the University of Nebraska football team, playing on their No. 1 kickoff coverage unit while also serving as a reserve Mike linebacker. In all, he played in 17 games in his NU career, including 15 games at linebacker and two games at fullback. Tomasevicz played in NU's final 10 games of 2003, and posted five tackles with two solos.
Thursday nights are also Taco Thursday, where fans can purchase Amigos' tacos for just one dollar. In addition, this Thursday is Girls Night Out at Haymarket Park. Game time is set for 7:05 pm.
