Saints Trade for Hard Hitting Corner Infielder

ST. PAUL, MN (July 28, 2010) - With five weeks left in the season the St. Paul Saints have made a move to bolster their offense trading for corner infielder Brad Miller.

The 27-year-old Miller was received in a trade with the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League for a player to be named later. This season he was hitting .256 with seven homers and 24 RBI in 31 games. In 133 at bats he scored 21 runs, five doubles, a .306 on base percentage and a .451 slugging percentage.

Last season in a full season with the Miners he hit .296 with 13 homers and 74 RBI in 95 games. In 348 at bats he scored 70 runs, had 19 doubles, two triples, an on base percentage of .385 and a slugging percentage of .474.

Miller was an 18th round draft pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2006 June Amateur Draft and spent two and a half years with the organization. In 2007 he hit a career high 22 homers with 91 RBI for Single-A South Bend.

To make room for Miller the Saints released left-handed reliever Payton Tweddale who was 0-1 with a 6.24 ERA in 27 games.

The Saints currently have a league maximum 22 players on their roster, 13 position players and nine pitchers.
