LAST GAME: Oklahoma shutout Round Rock 5-0 Wednesday evening at The Dell Diamond. John Mayberry's first inning three-run home run provided all the offense that Michael Ballard and the RedHawks bullpen would need. Chris Shelton and Adam Fox also drove in runs for Oklahoma, which evened the All-Time series with Round Rock at 31 wins apiece.

CRUZ IS MVP: The Pacific Coast League announced Nelson Cruz was chosen as the Most Valuable Player, as selected by the PCL's managers and media representatives. Cruz is the first player in Oklahoma's franchise history to win the PCL MVP award. The Dominican Republic native is currently third in batting average at .342, second in home runs with 37, fifth in RBI with 99, and is tied for second in stolen bases with 24. He also leads the league in slugging percentage at .695, is second in on-base percentage at .429, and is third in runs scored at 93. Cruz had his contract purchased by Texas on Monday.

SHUT'EM DOWN AND OUT:

Michael Ballard, Kameron Loe, and Jose Diaz combined to pitch Oklahoma's ninth shutout of the season in Wednesday's win over Round Rock. Five base runners reached during the game, including four on hits and one on a walk. It is the first shutout that each has been apart of with the RedHawks this season.

STREAKING TRENDS:

Chris Shelton extended his season-high hitting streak to 11 games with a pair of hits last night. The RedHawks infielder is hitting .400 during this current run, which extends back to August 17, and has .376 average this month. Ryan Roberts and John Mayberry each extended their hitting streaks to six games last night. Roberts has 13 hits over hits last six games spanning 30 at bats (.433), while Mayberry is hitting .308 during his latest streak.

RAMIREZ TOES THE RUBBER:

Elizardo Ramirez is the only RedHawk with multiple wins against Round Rock this season. Tonight's starter is 2-0 against the Express this year with a 3.33 ERA. Ramirez benefited from 11 runs of support in his first start of the year against Round Rock in Oklahoma's April 16 win by a 19-3 final, and got seven from his offense in a June 23 9-4 victory. The 25-year-old has not faced the Express on the road this season, where he has gone 3-2 with a 4.76 ERA. Ramirez is 7-4 with a 3.86 earned run average at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in 2008.

AMERICAN SOUTH CHAMPIONS:

The RedHawks clinched the American South division title on August 23. Oklahoma has been in or tied for first since April 7, and was the first club to clinch its division in the Pacific Coast League this season. This title is the fifth in RedHawks history (1999, 2002, 2004, & 2005) and the tenth in Oklahoma City Triple-A history (including seven in the PCL and three in the American Association).

ROUND ROCK AT A GLANCE:

J.R. Towles had a six game hitting streak snapped with an 0-4 performance last night, while J.R. House had a three game streak broken (0-4)... Ray Sadler's second inning single broke an 0-20 drought.
