Angels Recall Wood, Option Bulger to Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY (August 28, 2008) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has recalled infielder Brandon Wood and optioned right-handed pitcher Jason Bulger to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Wood, 23, has appeared in 103 games with the Bees in 2008, hitting .296 with 31 home runs, 21 doubles, two triples, 84 RBI and six stolen bases. Recently named a member of the 2008 All-PCL Team, Wood has played in 29 games with the Angels this season, hitting .125 with five runs, one double, one home run and two RBI. The Austin, Texas native was originally selected in the first round, 23rd overall, by the Angels in the 2003 draft.

Bulger, 29, has appeared in six games for the Angels in 2008, owning a 0-0 record with a 6.75 ERA. Also recently named a member of the 2008 All-PCL Team, Bulger owns a 4-0 record and a team-low 0.66 ERA with 15 saves in 35 games for the Bees this season. The Lawrenceville, Ga. native and 2008 PCL All-Star joined the Angels in a trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2006.
