LAST GAME:
The Oklahoma RedHawks beat the Albuquerque Isotopes 15-5 Sunday afternoon at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Nine different players drove in runs for Oklahoma in the win. Albuquerque took an early lead on Oklahoma starter Elizardo Ramirez with three runs in the second inning. The RedHawks answered with five runs in the home half of the inning to take a lead that they would not surrender. Jason Ellison had the key hit in the inning; a bases loaded triple that put the RedHawks up 4-3. Oklahoma would add runs in each of the next two innings before Albuquerque managed any more offense. After the Isotopes plated a run in the top of the sixth, the RedHawks rallied with a four-run sixth inning of their own. Oklahoma plated those four runs on just two hits, benefiting from three walks and a hit batter. Albuquerque scored its final run in the top of the seventh, but once again the Oklahoma offense grabbed the scene, scoring three times in the seventh and once in the eighth.
SINGLES DAY AT THE BRICK:
The RedHawks pounded 16 hits, 12 of which were singles, off six Isotope pitchers yesterday. Oklahoma had two doubles and two triples, but no home runs in their second-best offensive output this season. The RedHawks knocked 20 hits and scored 19 runs in a 4/17 win over Round Rock.
FUKUMORI STELLAR IN RETURN:
Kaz Fukumori started his second stint with Oklahoma yesterday afternoon. The right-hander entered the game having retired the last 15 Triple-A batters he faced, and added three more to the running total, including a pair of strikeouts.
NEAR SYMMETRY:
Albuquerque walked 11 batters and struck out three Sunday afternoon, while Oklahoma struck 11 and walked just three. The Isotopes, however, hit a pair of batters, while the RedHawks hit none.
PORTLAND AT A GLANCE:
The Beavers are in fourth place in the Pacific North, 12.5 games behind Salt Lake. The margin is the largest that any team is behind the division leader in the PCL... Portland has 10 members of the San Diego Padres 40-man roster currently active in the PCL... The Beavers feature three of the Padres top ten prospects according to Baseball America (Chase Headley- 1, Matt Antonelli- 2, and Wade LeBlanc- 4)... Portland snapped a six game slide with a 6-4 win at Las Vegas yesterday.
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION:
Texas shutout Minnesota 10-0... Frisco lost 6-4 at home to Corpus Christi... Bakersfield beat high desert 5-2... Clinton scored two in the bottom of the ninth to edge Lansing 2-1.
DOT-DOT-DOT:
Kaz Fukumori returned to Oklahoma and dons the number 14 once again. Fukumori wore the number during his first stint, but it was given to fellow countryman Yukinaga Maeda earlier this week upon his assignment to the RedHawks. Maeda has switched to the number 2... Kameron Loe has also changed numbers and now wears 43 after wearing number 44 all season long... Oklahoma embarks on its first eight game road trip of the season today... The RedHawks will return home on May 6 for their second eight game homestand of the season.
ON THE AIR:
Every game this season can be heard on the RedHawks Radio Network, led by broadcaster Jim Byers for the ninth season, and joined by Adam Marco during each homestand.
