Tucson Padres News Release

Jake Buchanan held the Padres to two runs over 7.2 innings to help the Oklahoma City RedHawks defeat Tucson 8-2 Thursday at Kino Stadium. The loss ended the Padres six-game winning streak and dropped them to three games back in the Pacific Southern Division Standings.

After three scoreless innings to start the game, the RedHawks scored four runs on two hits including a two-run triple from Jimmy Paredes to take the lead. Ben Francisco's RBI single in the bottom of the fourth brought around the first run for the Padres. The RedHawks tacked on a run in the fifth on George Springer's RBI single to left.

Springer hit his 14th home run of the season, a two-run shot into the left field bullpen, to extend the RedHawks lead to 7-1 in the eighth. Oklahoma City scored one more run in the inning on Jon Singleton's home run that landed on the road outside the ballpark past right field. The Padres made it an 8-2 game in the bottom of the eighth on Jonathan Galvez's RBI double to center.

Buchanan earned his fifth win for the RedHawks, scattering seven hits and one walk, while striking out three in the outing. Keyvius Sampson was charged with the loss, allowing four hits, five runs and six walks in five innings. Reymond Fuentes continued his hitting streak to six games with a pair of hits Thursday.
