Aces Drop Series Finale 7-3

August 16, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release

RENO, Nev. - Reno's offensive woes continued for the second straight night, as the Aces suffered a 7-3 loss to the Nashville Sounds on Thursday at Aces Ballpark.

Sounds starter Johnny Hellweg shut out the Aces through the first five frames, limiting Reno to just two hits in the stretch. A pair of home runs in the sixth provided Reno's only runs of the night. Mike Jacobs led off the inning with a shot to the berm in right field, and Josh Wilson followed later on with a two-run homer to center field.

Five Reno batters each had a hit on the night. Jacobs' home run was his 15th, the most among active Aces batters this season.

LHP Tyler Skaggs struggled in what was his first appearance since starting last Thursday's game, which was suspended because of rain after just 1.1 innings. He allowed six runs on 10 hits through 4.2 innings, while striking out five and walking three.

Tomorrow, the Aces travel to Fresno for a five-game series against the Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park. RHP Zeke Spruill (4-3, 3.24 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Grizzlies will counter with LHP Mike Kickham (6-7, 4.41 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and all of the action can be heard live at KPLY 630 AM.

Tickets are available for Reno's final home series against Salt Lake from Aug. 21-25 at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
