Oilers Start 15th Season Friday

Start It Up: The Tulsa Oilers start their 15th season in the Central Hockey League, Friday night against another of the "original six" from the reformation of the CHL in 1992. The Oilers visit the Wichita Thunder at 7:05 p.m. that game will be broadcast on KRVT AM 1270.

Preseason Recap: The Oilers went 2-1-0 in the preseason, winning two games at the Oilers Ice Center and dropping their lone road contest. The Oilers scored six straight goals in a 7-4 win over the Oklahoma City Blazers Thursday night, beat the Rocky Mountain Rage 4-3 Saturday night, 4-3 and lost Sunday afternoon, 4-1 in Oklahoma City.

Delayed Homecoming: Friday's opener will be long delayed homecoming of sorts for the Oilers David Beauregard. He returns there after eight seasons away. Beauregard was the CHL Rookie of the Year with the Thunder in 1997-98 when he had 42 goals and 29 assists for 71 points in only 57 games. He spent part of that season with the Kansas City Blades in the International Hockey League, which was the top farm team of the San Jose Sharks at the time. Defenseman Andrew Nahirniak appeared in 20 games for the Thunder last season.

Coach K: Butch Kaebel starts his third full season as coach of the Oilers. He took the helm midway through the 2003-04 season. His coaching record is 76-69-17.

Tickets Here: Oiler season tickets for the 2006-07 season, as well as individual tickets for the first three games are now on sale. Season ticket prices are the same as the 2004-05 season, ranging from $300 to $475.
