Mudbugs top Rayz 4-3

Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release


CORPUS CHRISTI -- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs came out on the winning end in their final exhibition game of the year on Monday afternoon. Milan Vodrazka scored the game winning goal to lift the Mudbugs to a 4-3 victory over the Corpus Christi Rayz.

Corpus Christi took the early lead in the first period when David Friel scored at the 3:46 mark. The Mudbugs would even the score before the intermission when Jamie McKinven scored at 14:42. Chris Murphy gave the Mudbugs the lead in the second period when he scored off a feed from Mark Cody at 7:59 on the power play. The Bugs would add to it as Mark Cody scored one of his own, beating Rayz' goaltender Ron Vogel at 19:13.

The Rayz kept it competitive in the third period, storming back to even the game with back-to-back goals by Derrick McIver and Jason Lepine at 7:39, with Lepine's goal scored on the power play. In the end, it was Milan Vodraska's unassisted goal at 11:54 that would give the Mudbugs the victory. John DeCaro picked up his first win in goal for Bossier-Shreveport while Ron Vogel took the loss.

The 2006-2007 season marks the 10th anniversary of Mudbugs hockey. Bossier-Shreveport will host the 2007 Central Hockey League All-Star game on January 17th, at the CenturyTel Center.
