Home Stand Starts: The Tulsa Oilers begin a key three game homestand tonight, hosting Northwest Divisional rival, Wichita Thunder.
Records: Oilers are 22-20-4 with 48 points, in fourth place in the Northwest Division. Wichita is 25-15-5 with 55 points in third place in the Northwest Division.
Season Series: Tonight is the eighth meeting of the year between these two teams. They will play each other four more times after tonight. The Oilers are 4-2-1 against Wichita this season. Wichita is 3-3-1 against the Oilers. The Oilers won the most recent meeting, 4-1 in Wichita on February 11th.
Recent Action: The Oilers dropped their last game, losing 3-2 in Amarillo on Tuesday night. The Oilers gave up three second period goals, but saw their third period rally come up one goal short. Wichita scored three third period goals last night in a 5-2 win at Memphis.
Missing In Action: The Oilers tonight are without Jaroslav Cesky, who suffered a broken arm when hit by a shot in Wichita February 11th. Also out tonight is Curtis Voth, serving the 10th game of a 12 game CHL suspension. Wichita will be without left winger Ben Murphy.
Welcome To Tulsa: Tonight is the home debut for three Oilers who were obtained via trades last week. Mike Lukajic (#26), Doug Watkins (#27), and Shawn Roed (#33) are all playing their first home game.
Still Leading The Way: Jim Dahl still leads all CHL rookies in scoring (61 points) and goals (27). Shawn Futers leads first year players in penalty minutes (201).
Pioneer On Hand: Willie O'Ree the first black man to play in the National Hockey League, is on hand at both Oiler games this weekend. He will be signing autographs at the Chuck-A-Puck stand (west side concourse) during the second intermission.
Next Up: The Oilers continue their homestand tomorrow night against the Memphis RiverKings. Green Country Cycle City will be handing out Thunderstix, and Willie O'Ree will be on hand again.
