
Eagles Cruise Past Ice Bats 6-2

AUSTIN, TX- The Colorado Eagles defeated the Austin Ice Bats 6-2 Friday night at the Travis County Exposition Center in just their second meeting in the Eagles three-year history. Scott Polaski led the Eagles with two goals and two assists and Fraser Filipic and Nick Parillo each had three points in the Eagles 33rd victory of the season. The Eagles were out shot in the contest 38-27 but red hot goaltender Jeff Blair again played outstanding stopping 36 of 38 shots in the win. The Eagles improved their record to 33-10-5 for 71 points and still lead the Northwest Division by a large margin.
Filipic and Polaski gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead in the first period with Polaski's goal coming by way of a power play. Ice Bats Aaron Davis cut the lead in half scoring with just 1.4 seconds remaining in the period, his was also a power play goal. The Eagles out shot the Ice Bats 17-14 in the period, and held the lead for the remainder of the game.
Colorado extended their lead with two goals in the second period. Fraser Filipic notched is second goal of the night at the 9:51 mark on an assist by Polaski and Sean Robertson scored only 22 seconds later to give the Eagles a commanding 4-1 lead. Colorado scored on two of their four shots of the period and Blair stopped all 13 of the Ice Bats' shots.
Colorado jumped out to a 6-1 on goals from Nick Parillo and Scott Polaski. Parillo's tally was a shorthanded goal and Polaski's was a career high fourth point of the game. Julian Smith scored the final goal of the game on a power play with 1:30 remaining making the score 6-2. Tempers flared at the end of the game with many players getting game misconducts. The Eagles are now 2-0 all-time against the Ice Bats and will travel to Lubbock to take on the Cotton Kings Saturday night.
