Fort Worth, TX. - The Youngstown SteelHounds (19-27-2) used a big third period and Matt Hanson's first professional hat trick to take down the Fort Worth Brahmas (13-27-7) by a final score of 4-2. Jeff Christian set up three of the Hounds goals who now improve to 4-2 on their current eight-game road trip and 4-0 this season versus the Brahmas.

The SteelHounds started quickly as they scored just 1:48 into the opening frame, just one second shy of the fastest goal in team history. Defenseman Matt Hanson scored the goal, his second of the year, assisted by Jeff Christian extending his point streak to eight straight games (8-9=17). The Brahmas came back quickly taking advantage of a scramble in front of David St. Germain. Defenseman Ryan Fairbarn scored his ninth goal of the season assisted by Wes Mason and Beau McLaughlin at the 4:27 mark tying the game at one. Fort Worth outshot the Hounds 9-8 in the period.

Sloppy was the word that described the second period as both teams struggled to get any flow. The only goal of the period came on a two-man advantage by the Brahmas with Mason scoring by jamming the puck by the left skate of St. Germain for his 18th goal of the season assisted by Fairbarn and Vladimir Hartinger at the 13:39 mark of the period. The Brahmas outshot the Hounds 7-5 in the period and had five power play chances to the Hounds one.

The SteelHounds made a big comeback in the third period scoring three times and taking the victory for Youngstown. The Hounds tied it up at the 1:36 mark with a power play goal by Hanson assisted by Darryl Lloyd and Chris Shaffer. The Hounds took the lead, once again on the power play, with Hanson capping off the big night with his third goal of the game, the eventual game winner. Christian and Joey Sewell drew the assists. Joey Sewell added an empty-net goal, his ninth of the season with less than a second remaining.

Youngstown outshot the Brahmas 27-21 in the game firing off 14 shots in the final period. St. Germain improves to 14-20-2 making 19 saves and improves to 3-0 versus the Brahmas this season.

The road trip continues for the Hounds tomorrow night with a battle against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees with face-off scheduled for 8:35 PM (EST).
