(EDMONTON, AB) - The Edmonton Oil Kings have signed four players - goaltenders Kolby Hay and Colby Knight, defenceman Ross Stanley and forward Brendan Kuny - to Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreements following the conclusion of Training Camp, the Club announced on Tuesday.
Goaltender Kolby Hay, from Abbotsford, BC, was the Oil Kings 3rd round, 62nd overall selection in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft. He registered an 11-8 win-loss record with one shutout, a 2.89 GAA and .891 save percentage during the 2018-19 regular season with Yale Bantam Prep (CSSBP).
He went on to backstop the team to a CSSBP Championship with a 4-1 record, along with a 2.33 GAA and .923 save percentage.
Goaltender Colby Knight, from Red Deer, AB, was a member of the Red Deer North Stars (AMMHL) during the 2018-19 season, earning an 11-2 record in 16 starts and collecting five shutouts while registering a 2.58 GAA and .918 save percentage.
Knight also participated in the 2019 Canada Winter Games as a member of Team Nunavut. He was the Oil Kings 5th round pick, 92nd overall in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
Defenceman Ross Stanley, from Edson, AB, was the Oil Kings 2nd round, 40th overall selection in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft. He was a member of OHA Edmonton Bantam Prep during the 2018-19 season, tallying four goals and 17 assists for 21 points in 29 games, followed by a goal and an assist in four playoff games.
Stanley was the captain of his CIHA Voyageurs Bantam AAA (OEBHL) during the 2017-18 campaign.
Camrose, AB native and right winger, Brendan Kuny, was a member of the Sherwood Park Kings (AMHL) last season, amassing 14 goals and 31 points in 33 regular season games before adding a pair of goals in four playoff games.
He was the Oil Kings 7th round, 136th overall selection in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
"Brendan Kuny has a very high compete factor to his game," said Oil Kings President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, Kirt Hill. "He possesses good touch with the puck around the net, and is another local player we are excited to have join our organization.
"Ross Stanley is a complete defenceman with strong skating and positional play. His puck moving ability makes him a great addition to our group."
"We are very happy with Colby Knight's progression over the last year," said Oil Kings Director of Scouting, Jamie Porter. "He is a mature, good-sized, athletic goaltender who we believe has a lot of upside, as was seen in his solid playoff performance last year."
"Kolby Hay is a big goalie who plays a very solid positional game," Hill added. "He tracks pucks well, controls rebounds and competes hard in the crease. We were very happy that Kolby was available when he was in the Draft and see a lot of upside in his development.
"We are excited to welcome Kolby, Colby, Ross, Brendan and their families to the Oil Kings organization."
