
Oil Kings Acquire Defenceman Matthew Gallant from Moose Jaw

(Edmonton, AB) - The Edmonton Oil Kings have acquired 2004-born defenceman Matthew Gallant from the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for a 2026 third-round draft pick, the Club announced today.
"The Edmonton Oil Kings are pleased to welcome Matthew and his family to our organization," said Oil Kings President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kirt Hill. "He is a good skating veteran defenceman who is skilled with the puck and will be able to provide us with much needed minutes on our back end. We look forward to him being in our line-up Wednesday night."
Gallant, 19, is in his third season in the WHL, all spent with the Warriors organization after being listed and signed by the team prior to the 2021-22 season.
In 131 career games, the Langley, BC product has tallied 33 points (7G, 26A), 50 penalty minutes and a +15 plus/minus rating.
This season, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound rearguard has suited up in 21 games putting up eight points (1G, 7A), 12 penalty minutes and a -9 plus/minus rating.
The Edmonton Oil Kings next home game is Wednesday, November 22 at 7:00 P.M. when they welcome the Brandon Wheat Kings to Rogers Place.
