
Ohio Valley Defeats Washington 11-5

Washington Wild Things News Release
The Washington Wild Things (61-32), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, lost to the Ohio Valley 11-5 Saturday night at Falconi Field.
Ohio valley scored three runs in the first inning when Travis Garcia flied out, driving in Kaliko Oligo. Then Jaziel Mendoza hit a homerun, driving in Nick Batkoski.
But the Wild Things answered in the bottom of the inning when Matt Swope hit a solo home run to start the inning.
Ohio Valley scored again in the third when Garcia singled, driving in Oligo. Then in the fourth Oligo singled to the right side, scoring Munoz.
In the fifth inning Garcia hit a two run homer. Darren Uranga doubled to left center, driving in Jud Richards, and Mendoza scored. Then Urgana scored an unearned run.
But Ohio Valley wasn't done. In the seven Mundoz scored another run.
In the eighth inning Washington Pat O'Brien doubled to left center, driving in Mike Arbinger. O'Brien scored on an error, and T.J. Graves grounded out, driving in Ryan McGraw.
Washington scored again in the ninth when O'Brien grounded out to third base, driving in Chris Carter.
Brian Burks (10-4) took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on nine hits, and striking out one in four innings. Mike Grady and Corey Ohalek combined for five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.
This is the fifth straight loss for the Wild Things, their longest losing streak of the season. The Wild Things are one win away from tying their 2004 record for wins with two games left to play in the regular season.
Ohio Valley and Washington meet Sunday at Falconi Field for game two of the three- game-set when first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. The Wild Things will host the Chillicothe Paints in the playoffs at Falconi Field next Wednesday and Thursday (September 7 & 8). Tickets are available.
