Gateway Grizzlies News Release
The Gateway Grizzlies (48-46) took the first game of the final three-game series of the season defeating the River City Rascals (41-51) 7-6 Saturday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.
The Rascals struck first in what would become a back-and-forth game.
Mike Breyman hit a three-run home run in the third to make it 3-1 Grizzlies. The Rascals would add a run in the fifth and three in the sixth to go up 5-3, but the lead would be short-lived.
Ryan Sullivan led off the seventh with a base-hit before Freddy Lopez blasted his eighth home run of the year over the "big-dog" wall in right field. The Grizzlies added two more runs. Thomari Story-Harden singled to drive in a run and Breyman hit a sacrifice fly to center for the other. That made it 7-5. River City would add a run in the bottom half to get it to 7-6.
Breyman was 1-4 on the night with the four RBIs. Lopez was 1-3 with the pair of RBIs.
Nathan Roush (4-4) got the win going six innings. He gave up five runs on seven hits. Chris Little and Ryan Hamilton added the final three innings of relief. Hamilton picked up his fifth save of the year.
Chris Webb (3-4) suffered the loss in relief for the Rascals. Webb failed to record an out in the seventh but gave up two runs on two hits for the loss.
The Grizzlies and Rascals continue the series with a 6:05 game Sunday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, MO.
Grizzlies fans can tune in at 6:00 on the Grizzlies radio network.
