Offense Stays Hot for Third-Straight Win in 15-9 Triumph

Albuquerque, NM - The Isotopes bats stayed hot for a third-straight game to lead the club for their third win in-a-row with a 15-9 triumph over Las Vegas Wednesday afternoon at Isotopes Park.

In the box, Albuquerque swatted 16 hits, three doubles, a triple and three homers. Eight of nine starters had a hit while six had at least two hits. The first five spots in the batting order produced all 13 RBI. Tim Lopes and Wynton Bernard had three hits while Elehuris Montero, Sean Bouchard, Coco Montes and Jonathan Morales tallied two hits. Montes, Bouchard and Montero homered while Bouchard had a game-high four RBI.

Las Vegas once again took a lead in the first, this time plating two runs on a Shea Langeliers sac fly and Luis Barrera RBI single. But the Isotopes matched that in the home half with a Montes RBI single and throwing error by the catcher on a Bernard stolen base.

In the third frame, the Aviators took a 3-2 lead on another Barrera RBI single. The Isotopes again responded with a two spot in the home half to take a 4-3 advantage behind a two-run homer from Montes.

Albuquerque then broke the game open with five runs in the fourth to lead, 9-3. Bernard tripled home two runs, Lopes laced an RBI double and Montero blasted a two-run shot. In the top half of the fifth, the Aviators scored a run on Barrera's third RBI single.

For the second-straight inning, the Isotopes plated five runs, including a grand slam by Bouchard. The Aviators scored another single run in the sixth, making the score 14-5 Isotopes.

The Aviators closed the gap to 14-8 on a three-run homer by Billy McKinney in the seventh. But Albuquerque got one back in the home half of the frame. Las Vegas rallied in the ninth but managed just one run

Riley Smith earned his fourth win after tossing 5.0 innings and allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits with four strikeouts.

Topes Scope:

- In the fifth inning, Bouchard blasted the team's 10th grand slam of the year-breaking a franchise record set in 2004 and 2019. It is also the first time in team history the team has hit a grand slam in three-straight games.

-The Isotopes have plated double-digit runs in three-straight games for the first time this season and eighth time in team history: May 18-21, 2004; May 19-21, 2005; April 19-21, 2008; Aug. 10-12, 2008; Aug. 27-29, 2010; July 4-6, 2011; July 27-30, 2021. They have never scored double-digits in four-straight.

-Albuquerque scored nine runs against Zach Logue, the Aviators starting pitcher. The nine runs relented are the second-most allowed in a game this year by an opposing starter (10, July 3 vs. Sugar Land, Brett Conine).

-The Isotopes have allowed a run in the first inning in four of their last five games. They have relented 104 on the year-the most in all of MiLB.

-Albuquerque scored five runs in both the fourth and fifth inning, which is tied for the third-most runs in an inning this year (12 times).

-It is the fourth time this year the Isotopes have played back-to-back three-plus hour games.

-The Isotopes plated 15 runs, the fourth-most in a game this season.

-Albuquerque connected on 16 hits, tied for the fourth-most hits in a game this year.

-Bernard recorded his team-leading 31st multi-hit effort and his ninth three-hit game of the year. He has multi-hit games in six of his last eight. He also stole third base for the fifth time (5-for-6) this year. Bernard tallied his eighth triple of the year, the most in the PCL. Additionally, he has reached base at least three times in five of his last seven games. Tallied at least two extra-base hits in a game for the eighth time.

-Montero extended his on-base streak to 29 games-tied for the second-longest active streak and tied for the fourth-longest streak in the PCL this year. During the streak he is slashing .364/.439/.627 with six doubles, two triples, seven homers, 30 RBI and 13 walks. He also tallied his 21st multi-hit effort this year and his 10th multi-RBI contest.

-Montes has compiled 11 RBI over his last three games-the most in a three-game stretch during his career. He also registered his 18th multi-hit effort and third-straight while driving in three for his fourth three-RBI game of the year. He has hit a home run in three-straight games for the first time this year as well.

-Herron reached base three times-two walks and a single-for the second time with the Isotopes.

-Lopes recorded his first three-hit game of the year and first since Aug. 7, 2021, with Triple-A Nashville vs. Toledo. He also recorded two RBI in a non-rehab game for the first time since May 26 vs. Round Rock.

-Bouchard has tallied a home run in two-straight for the second time this season. It was also his second four RBI game of the year and 16th multi-hit effort.

-D.J. Peterson drew three walks for the first time in pro ball since June 27, 2016, with Jackson

On Deck: The Isotopes and Aviators will play game three Thursday at 6:35 pm MT. Ashton Goudeau is set to start for Albuquerque while Parker Dunshee is expected toe the rubber for Las Vegas.
